As a good practicer of what I preach, I try to be a good GREEN citizen of the world. As such, you may find this website a bit slow. A good part of the reason? The server upon which this website is residing is a 5-watt Fit-PC Server running Windows XP, XAMPP and Joomla.
That's less power than the nightlight in your hallway.
That's less power than the router you're using to run your wireless network.
That's pretty low power.
Anyway, not only is it low power, it is silent with no fan. If you're curious, you can go to www.fit-pc.com and find out more.
Now - to be fair - the remaining reason this site is slow (and possibly even the #1 reason) is the ISP here on Guemes Island, where the bandwidth is very limited.
For those who would like technical info on this site, here goes:
Server:
Fit-PC 1.0 running 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 Processor, 256MB RAM, 60GB IDE Harddrive, and IO ports including an RJ-11-based RS-232.
Software:
Windows XP Professional running XAMPP, which includes the Apache Webserver (even though I would prefer Ubuntu, but LaCrosse won't put out a Linux version of thei software).
Joomla 1.5.X with the standard JA_Purity Template
FireBoard forum
Heavy Weather and WUHU.
Weatherstation:
LaCrosse WS-2810U-IT Professional Wireless Weatherstation.
